Artists

Art supplies are a hot commodity in my house.   More often than not, my kitchen floor (and the hallway, and the family room, and sometimes the front step) are peppered with a collection of crayons and paper and glue and stickers and paint and whatever else manages to surface from the special boxes my mom gave the boys for Christmas.

Anthony loves to create "things."  Some days it is masks that we have to cut out and wear.  At other times, we trace ourselves and design Power Ranger uniforms.  Nearly every day, Anthony creates art with a purpose.  Most of the time, I'm pretty sure he finds joy in the work he creates.  Sometimes, he just creates work so he has a purpose.    Any which way, most walls (and mirrors, and doors) in our house are covered with his masterpieces.

Jimmy is much more chill in his approach to art.  He will happily work his way through any number superhero coloring books or spend hours crafting some Play-Doh creations.  For Jim, it's much for about the experience that than the product, which makes it lots of fun to kick back and create with him.

As much as I have "good ol' boys" (as my neighbor commented) that are perfectly happy with sticks and mud and balls, I'm grateful that they are just as content to spend quiet time creating art.  My walls are happy, too.

The important thing is to create.  Pablo Picasso
