Last Stop Summer

Tomorrow we jump back into our old (work) routine, but we celebrated this last weekend before school begins at Last Stop Willoughby.  This fun little event, held in our community's historic downtown, had plenty of food, music, (free) kids activities, and even a parade.  The boys had a blast wandering around our beloved Downtown Willoughby, and it was a cool way to wrap up our summer vacation.

The hub of the activity was in the park.  Kids could decorate cookies, design pirate hats, and make bracelets.  The boys sidled up to a few cheerleaders, who painted a baseball on each of their faces.  Anthony was a bit shy, but Jimmy was openly flirting with the girls at the table.

While the boys spent time in the kids area, we were also able to catch some of the live music that was featured in the gazebo.

Many of the local restaurants participated in the "Taste of Willoughby" contest, each featuring one of their signature menu items.  I sampled some egg rolls from my favorite brewing company, while Dan and the boys enjoyed some hearty Italian fare.  Anthony (of course) devoured a slice a pizza, but Jimmy surprised us all by eating an entire bowl of cavatelli.

There were various nooks and crannies with model train displays.  Some of the more intricate exhibits were in City Hall, but there were a few sets of tracks in the park and even over the fountain.

If you ask the boys, both will agree that the best part of the day was the parade.

More specifically, it was the candy they got while at the parade!

Last Stop Willoughby might have been our last summer stop, but we are gearing up for lots of fall events... namely Anthony birthday!

Speaking of birthdays...  We celebrated by going to the zoo, and having a little party, and eating (more) cake at our (last) Thursday lunch, but since it is a (super important) birthday we need to say it one more time...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUNT CARE!
