Building Blocks

A few months ago, my dad bought the boys some (rather large) building blocks so they can construct towers, forts, airplanes, and firehouses when they visit the west side.  Typically we contain these structures to the back room of my parents' house, but this past Saturday, the blocks made their way to the living room after bath time.

Anthony has been blessed with a vivid imagination, and spent over an hour creating different architectural masterpieces with his grandpa.

Grandma had the bigger challenge, as she worked to keep Jimmy interested in creating his own masterpiece, rather than (violently) destroying his brother's tower.

My parents have built more than towers with Anthony and James.  These "building blocks" have laid the foundation for a powerful grandparent-grandchild relationship that will help my sons grow into the giving, responsible men we know they have the potential to be.

Everyone needs to have access both to grandparents and grandchildren in order to be a full human being. ~Margaret Mead
