Change in Plans

This weekend is the Great Geauga County Fair, and all of my boys were excited to go.  We've been "talking up" the tractors and cows and barns with Anthony for the past week, and today was the big day.

Dan wanted to clean up the yard before we left, and Anthony (as always) patiently watched and waited on our front step.

The boys put on their fair clothes (overalls, of course) and we were ready to go.

We did not anticipate that everyone in Geauga, Lake, and Cuyahoga counties would choose to attend the fair today.

After sitting in traffic for nearly and hour, and calling Dan's brothers, who had been waiting in the jam considerably longer, we decided a change in plans would be necessary.  I was a bit sad that Anthony wouldn't get to see his beloved tractors, but he was open to a different adventure.

We stopped at a local restaurant, where Anthony got to enjoy a great hamburger and some cookies, while watching baseball on their televisions.

After dinner was finished eating we tooks the boys to a nearby park, and got them out to enjoy some fresh air.  Anthony climbed up the jungle gym while Jimmy looked on.

Anthony and Dann raced down the small slides...

Before Anthony decided to conquer the "Big Kahuna."

We stopped to pose for a family photo.

And then Anthony and Danny went back to play while Jimmy and I spent some time playing in the sunshine.

Before we went home, we stopped at a local ice cream shop for a special treat...

And lots of fun!

After our our ice cream was finished, Anthony decided to do some dancing.

As I write, Danny and I are sitting outside by the fire, enjoying a quiet evening and memories of a great day.  Sometimes a change in plans can be a true blessing.

Today is another BEST. DAY. EVER.
